The Influence Of Customs Union Among Russia, Kazakhstan And White Russia On Xingjiang’s Foreign Trade And Economic Cooperation

In November2009，Customs Union among Russia，Kazakhstan and White Russiaformally was established. Since then, the Customs Union has been running for more thanthree years. The Customs Union’trade creation and trade diversion effects have appearedinitially. Customs Union among Russia，Kazakhstan and White Russia formed a regionaleconomy unity of economy with populations of170million, the oil reserves of90billonbarrels, GDP total of about$2trillion, industrial output value of$600billion, agriculturalproduction value of$112billion, goods turnover of$900billion. The influence of theCustoms Union is increasing. Xinjiang is adjacent to Russia and Kazakhstan, and the borderline with Russian is about54kilometres, and Kazakhstan1783kilometres. Both Kazakhstanand Russia are important trading partners of Xinjiang, especially Kazakhstan, over the pastseveral years occupying more than half of Xinjiang’s foreign trade market. Therefore,Customs Union among Russia，Kazakhstan and White Russia is bound to have an importantimpact on Xinjiang foreign trade.While Russia，Kazakhstan and White Russia established customs union,, Xinjiang is inthe new period of span type development and will further its geographic advantage andresource advantage, and vigorously promote opening up strategy, and strive to develop into aregional economic and trade centres. Making economic and trade cooperation with Russia andEastern European countries will play a significant role in span type development and the longperiod of stability of Xinjiang, and will also be conducive to peace and stability in this region.During this special important period, making research on Customs Union among Russia，Kazakhstan and White Russia, understanding how it runs and what it will influence is veryimportant.
