Study On Construction And Application Of The Competency Model Of The Project Managers

The Project manager plays a core role to the success of the Project management. But on the staff selection, recruitment, training, performance management and career planning of project managers,most of the domestic enterprises lack advanced management concepts. A serious shortage of this philosophy,approach and methods cannot meet the new period of construction enterprise development requirements. Competency model can help enterprises better realize the job analysis, selection and recruitment, training, performance management, career planning and other functions. At present, there are only a few researches on competence model of project manager at home and abroad. Therefore, it is necessary to make preliminary efforts on research of the project manager’s competence model.This article begin research about the competency model of the project manager.Based on a lot of the article analysis, we gave more explanation about the theory research results of the competency model of the project manager. After that, we do some research about the application of the model, wishing to play the reference role to the human resource management of the enterprise and improve the successful rate of the project.The competency model of the project manager totally has three levels. First, we build the objective level of the model.Then, through a lot of analysis, we obtain the criterion level of the competency model. After that, through separately analyzing each factor which includes in the three criteria, we get eleven competency elements in the factor level, and then we construct the competency model of the project manager. Based on the model, we gave more explanation and the method of how to establish each factor weight to this model. At the end, we study the competency model’s elements of Shanxi province and we get the important line of them.
