In recent years, because of the land desertification which is intensified in North China, the dust storm is more and more frequently, seriously affect people’s normal life, so the desert governance is crunch time. Water is a key factor in desertification control, providing reasonable of limited and effective moisture to desert plants is a very important problem. However, at present, it does not yet have a set of mature and reliable technical means to monitor, analyze, and study the water demand of desert plants in each period. This paper adopts an embedded technology that developed independently and completely a set of desert plant lysimeter observation Tank Embedded Monitoring system. The monitoring system bases on embedded controller monitoring water level, with the moisture sensor to monitor the pool every20CM vertical department and other auxiliary equipment to monitor the water demand of desert plants in each period, then supply water with high efficient to desert vegetation, which provides a reliable technical means and scientific basis for treatment of desert.At present, the study on this problem basically adopts weighing type and non weighing method to achieve in our country. The requirement of weighing type equipment is high, a small scale, and expensive cost, so it is generally used in small scale experiments. Non weighing type also has a slow development in China, but most of them are some simple monitoring device based on artificial, low efficiency and reliability is not high. Therefore, the design of non weighing type monitoring system for a set of automation is a great significance. The humidity of the environment system, power supply voltage fluctuations, long-term continuous working, unattended, and semi underground, therefore, this paper uses the non-weighing principle, adopts the embedded technology design to develop, manufacture and installation of a set of real-time monitoring system.The embedded system consists of host computer and independent research and development of monitoring water level controller, the wireless instruction transmitter, temperature wireless controller, wireless controller storage container valve, overflow tank liquid level monitoring controller, UPS overvoltage protector, soil moisture acquisition module, EC-5soil moisture sensor etc. The system has automatic monitoring soil moisture content, automatic keeping constant the water level of underground, water supply and drainage automatic measurement, data storage, data communication, fault alarm, keeping the environment temperature and other functions, has been put into use the sand station of sand Institute of Minqin in Gansu Province, running with a good condition, meets to the performance index of system.
