Modern radar systems rely on the signal processing extensively and raise higherdemands of signal processing methods, and the rapid development of integrated circuittechnology plays more and more important role in the field of radar signal processing.So the research of radar signal processing using very large scale integrated circuits(VLSI)to get faster and more effective performance becomes meaningful and urgent.In view of numerous radar signal processing platforms, this paper contributes todoing a specification of radar signal processing using field-programmable gate array(FPGA). Firstly, we analyze the common components of radar signal processingsystems, and then propose Division Time Multiplexing(TDM)processing methodbased on the technology of the digital down conversion(DDC)and digital beamforming (DBF). Secondly, we analyze a high-speed data transmission and error controlmethod of in detail. And then, summarize principles, techniques and optimization ofFPGA design engineering experiences of many radar signal processing platforms,which has practical significance in large projects. Finally, we discuss shortcomings ofthis paper and prospect of the future work.
