The competition among media is getting fierce nowadays, especially for TV. It faces the fiercest competition not only among CCTV, local TV channels and Provincial satellite TV channels, but also between the provincial TV channels and local city TV channels. With the development of society, economy, culture and technology, TV audience is no longer satisfied with more channels, clearer pictures, and various choices. In the meantime, what audience desire are more diversified, professional and personalized channels and TV programs, which meet their individual demands.TV channel professionalization, which is the reform and development direction of Chinese national TV Stations, has attracted widely attention since2000. Compared with other provincial TV stations within China, Inner Mongolia TV station has carried out the TV channel personalization reform with a slower pace and shorter period. The research on the development of Inner Mongolia TV station and the management of TV channels can’t keep up with the reality. With the title of the research on the operation and management of provincial TV channels, the thesis, which consists three chapters, discusses the historical development of Chinese domestic TV channels, and also the problems which they are faced with. Taking economy and lifestyle channel from inner Mongolia TV station as an example, the thesis also analysis its current management situation and development strategy, and explore how inner Mongolia TV station renovates its channel management pattern.The thesis hopes to provide the management theory and practices which TV media channels can be based on, and a thorough research data for the development of provincial TV stations by drawing on other media’s strength and looking for the weakness of self-development.
