| Inner Mongolia Television is a provincial telelevision, owning nine channels in Chinese and Mongolian languages, among which Inner Mongolia News Integrated Channel is the only news channel, and the only provincial news channel in Inner Mongolia. There is no such naming as provincial news channel in other countries. It is a product of Chinese characteristics, resulting from the trend of journalism and communication abroad, channel specialization in China, and the transformation of television news concept. The initiation and development of provincial television news channel in China is closely related to the development of civic journalism. The first television news channel was started in1999, and Inner Mongolia News Integrated Channel in2005. Today channel specialization has become a trend, however, it is going at a fairly slow pace. In the eight years since it was started, Inner Mongolia News Integrated Channel has not genuinely stepped into the path of specialized news channel. It has not gain any obvious advantage over other channels in viewership. Inner Mongolia News Integrated Channel is the only provincial news channel in Inner Mongolia. It has covered the whole region, which attributes to its competitiveness in Inner Mongolia. This paper is to frame the concept and feasibility of Inner Mongolia News Integrated Channel, and to make a proposal on its designing, building, and management based on an extensive study of the current situation and development of news channel home and abroad so as to make Inner Mongolia News Integrated Channel a genuine specialized news channel by fulfilling its media characteristics and winning high viewership. In this way Inner Mongolia News Integrated Channel will be able to work effectively as a coordinator among government, media, and public, take the responsibility of media, and promote social harmony. |
