When the coal pulverizer is in abnormal operation, large amounts of carbon monoxide gas will be generated and temperature will be risen. While increased temperature will cause pulverized coal self-ignition and explosion easily. The system of detecting the density of carbon monoxide is necessary for the safety and stabilization of power plant. Up to now, the study and application in this area is weakness in domestic research. Concluding the requirement of power plant, the article presents a system for detecting the density of carbon monoxide gas based on research method of carbon monoxide gas.According to the theory of gas absorption spectrometry, Lambert-Beer’s law and Dual-wavelength differential detection, the system establishes mathematical model. This system achieves the following functions:real-time detection of density of carbon monoxide, self-calibration, self-purge, real-time detection of temperature and pressure, density of oxygen, communication mode including232,485and4-20mA current output, LCD display of multilevel menus and control of button, Three-way output of relays, LED alarm output.The system’s measurement range is0to10000ppm, the precision is4%,and the resolution is1ppm, meets the requirements of the field.There are seven chapters. Considering the research significance and status in Domestic and foreign, the first chapter presents the system requirements. The second chapter describes the principles of the system, and explains a suitable mathematical model of the system. The third chapter gives the project of the whole measurement system, describes the selection of system source and detector and designs the optical structure. The fourth chapter describes the hardware design of the system, and makes a detailed analysis of the five circuit(transmitter circuit, receiver and control circuit, inter-system communication circuit, display circuit and power circuit),such as analog to digital conversion circuit, filter and amplifier circuit, the light source driving circuit, stepper motor driving circuit, serial communication circuit,4-20mA output circuit. The fifth chapter describes the algorithm of the system sampling, filtering and nonlinear temperature work, and presents the software design of the AVR microcontroller and PC, IIC communication programming, SPI communication programming, multilevel menu programming, external devices controlling and so on. The sixth chapter introduces the processing and testing work, and makes error analysis for the system. The final chapter summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the system, and suggests improvements direction.
