Coal mine gas explosion is one of major disasters, grave threat to the safety of coal production. Methane gas is the main component of gas, so to detect the content of methane timely and accurately in the coal mine safety production process is of great significance. When the concentration of gas in the mine reaches a certain value, it may lead to gas explosions, not only resulting in the occurrence of coal mine gas accident, huge casualties and property losses, but also making the families of countless killed miners into the impasse, so the accurate detection of methane gas concentration in coal mine is extremely important. When the concentration of methane reaches a certain limit, the testing equipment in a timely manner sends out the audible alarm signal to the people to take immediate and effective security measures. It can effectively prevent the explosion and major disasters. The traditional gas detection equipments have large volume, high cost and are inconvenient to carry and often need to be calibrated, so the shortcomings have been unable to meet the needs of industrial production. This paper presents a portable methane concentration detector. It can be very easy to detect the concentration of methane gas. The whole system not only has small and simple structure, relatively low cost, high sensitivity, but also is easier to operate. Service life is longer.This paper presents a portable methane concentration detector of the mine based on PIC16F1937 microcontroller, using a high-performance computing amplifying circuit to amplify the small signal. The PIC 16F1937 microcontroller can complete the signal acquisition and processing, in addition to display the measuring concentration and the basic functions of sound-light alarm. It can also show time and temperature. The practical value is relatively strong. LED digital tube is used to real-time display concentration of methane. When the measured value of the concentration of methane gas exceeds set numerical value, it will send out audible and visual alarm signals. Experimental results show that the detector has higher sensitivity and accuracy. It is easy to operate and it can detect real-time. Data processing capacity is relatively strong. Stability is relatively high. Explosion-proof sex is better. Response speed is faster. It can also be applied to other gas detection system. Because work environment for coal mine is relatively poor, this paper designed a portable intelligent detector of methane concentration. In the key part waterproof and dustproof measures should be taken. Because it is portable and relatively small in the design, it can be installed in coal mine workers carry-on equipment to determine the real-time concentration of methane gas.This paper first raises the research background, research status and the significance of realistic topic. Secondly analyse and put forward the design scheme of the whole system. Next design the hardware circuit of portable methane concentration detector of the mine based on PIC16F1937 microcontroller. It includes methane gas sensor, microcontroller processing and control circuit, sound and light alarm circuit, display circuit and system power circuit and so on. Then design the software program of portable methane concentration detector of the mine based on PIC16F1937 microcontroller and design the PC software. Then design experiment scheme, conducte comparative experiment, repeated experiment, cross-sensitivity test, stability test, and give some experimental data. The system error is analyzed. It can be better applied to the coal mine field in real-time measurement of the concentration of methane gas.Finally, this paper summarizes the work in this paper and puts forward innovation points and the future development trends.
