Wireless Optical Communication is a new type of wireless communication technology developed in recent years. It combines the features of wireless communication and optical communication, providing an alternative spectrum resources for the limited radio resources. Wireless Optical Communication has characteristics of high-bandwidth, low-radiation, anti-jamming. More and more attention both in China and abroad has been paid on it. Wireless Optical Communication has become one of the important directions of future research in the field of wireless communication.Audio transmission and processing is quite a mature technique, especially in the context of digital era. In the recent years, the audio signal has been digitized. With the support of digital signal processing technology, the storage, production and transmission of audio signal has reached a new height. Wireless optical communication with the combination of audio transmission is a relatively new technology and also has a wide range of applications. In some large venues and some of the electromagnetic sensitive areas, wireless optical audio transmission technology shows its advantages.Based on consulting domestic and international literature in the field of wireless optical communications and existing wireless optical communication cases, this paper researches issues related to the audio transmission system based on wireless optical, proposing a solution scheme of wireless optical audio transmission system and implementing it.This paper firstly describes the basic theory of wireless optical communications and current research status both in China and abroad, introducing the light-emitting principle and optical and electrical properties of LED. It provided a good foundation for the following research. Secondly, this paper analyses the characteristics of several common modulation and demodulation schemes in wireless optical communication through simulation. At the same time, this paper also introduces FPGA-based audio processing platform and basic features of audio codec chip. Finally, this paper proposes a design scheme of wireless optical audio transmission system, building an experimental platform under the conditions of existing hardware and realizing a short distance audio transmission based on white LED by Verilog programming.On the basis of experimental system, combined with the theoretical analysis and experimental data, this paper researches on the technical points affecting the performance of wireless optical audio communication system. It includes the comparison of modulation and demodulation schemes, communication rate and distance, system implementation by Verilog programming et al. This paper focuses on the phase-locked loop bit synchronization signal extraction method. Through analysis and comparison of specific experimental results, this paper proposes scheme to further improve the system performance.
