With the rapid development of computer, network, wireless communication and multimedia technologies, etc., recently, the demand of video transmission system becomes more and more urgent, it has become a hotspot in scientific research. The system has a board application prospect, it can spy in little area battlefield, and it alse can use in traffic surveillance, reconnaissance the situation of a disaster, reconnaissance terrain and so on. The aim of this project is to tackle the problem of video transmission at non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environment, which is of great value for practical applications.Reed-Solomon code is a kind of powerful error correcting code for burst and random errors. It is widely applied to deep space communication, mobile communication, disk array, digital video broadcasting system, and so on. RS code has been used in various modern communication systems as to satisfy the reliability of data transmission channel.In this dissertation, the design and implementation of wireless video transmission system are studied. And the primary works in this paper are presented as follows:1. Introduced the background of this dissertation, basic channel-coding theories and common used RS encoding algorithms;2. Implemented RS (255,223) encoder/decoder in Spartan-3 series of FPGA from Xilinx Company, simulation and testing results have proved the performance of RS encoder/decoder. Furthermore, applied it in our wireless video transmission system;3. Detailed Spartan-3 series of FPGA and analog-to-digital converter module, and presented the structure schemes;4. Introduced the hardware design scheme of the wireless video transmission system, selected the proper chips, detailed the circuitry design and realization;5. Summarized and concluded the whole dissertation, pointed out future research issues and possible research directions.
