Nearly80%of the fault risks of mechanical equipment come from lubrication failure,the main cause of large equipment failure is lubrication system failure caused by abrasion.Lubricating oil is like the blood of mechanical equipment, it plays an important role onmechanical equipment in sealing, lubrication, reducing wear, cooling, cleaning, vibration andcorrosion etc, but contains a variety of contaminants. These contaminants include: wearparticles of parts、corrosion products、as well as lubricating oil and additive that are allassociated with using state of mechanical equipment and lubricating oil, at the same time asa carrier, it reserves rich information about tribology condition from the surface of machine’skinematic pairs. The analysis on its performance and carried wear production can helpevaluate the wear state of mechanical equipment.Oil Testing is widely used in many industries, in many larger oil industries, they usuallyall have their own oil testing laboratory. So far as CNPC、Sinopec and five largest windpower generation groups all have their own oil testing laboratory. At this stage oil testinginstrument are mainly large offline equipment, accuracy is very high, but too expensive,operation requires extremely regular. Because the offline instrument is too big to move,people need to send the oil samples and can only test in fixed place, extremely inconvenient,therefore more and more industries hope that portable oil testing instrument can be used infield to solve these existing problems.The innovative works of this paper are as follows:(1)Based on the need of the project in practice, do research into all kinds of available oiltest, make it suitable for the use in portable instruments, and study the structure andperformance of them.(2)According to the type of these sensors interfaces, design the auxiliary card of ARM,help gather data of oil sensors.(3)Design the hardware circuit of this instrument, put to use modular design, control thehardware cost.(4)Writing software programs of this instrument do comparative experiments onaccuracy stability and repeatability.The originalities of this paper lie in:(1)There have not been relevant reports about portable oil testing instrument for wearparticles.(2)The portable oil testing instrument can test many oil parameters by choosing oilsensors, solving the status of single oil parameter.In this issue I minimise the cost of the portable oil testing instrument by designing theoil data acquisition board, and can be customized according to the different needs of users, it will have vast market prospects in the future.
