With the increase of the demand for quality of human resource in enterprises, government agencies, and other business institutions, and in order to match up to the needs of personnel scheduling such as promotion, reallocation, etc., their functional departments usually need to carry out various kinds of trainings to their staffs. The traditional face-to-face training methods, however, are more and more incompetent to meet the practical requirements due to the restrictions on factors of time and geography. Fortunately, this incompetence of the tradition methods can be made up by using the techniques of remote network training emerging with the background of high speed development of multimedia information and internet technologies. Via the convenient audio and video communication and file transferring and sharing functions provided through the network, remote network training, driven by the gradually emerging techniques such as virtual desktops and virtual control, has been widely used in all walks of life. Therefore, many government agencies, companies, and institutions have urgent needs to build their own internet or intranet-based remote training system.Compared to the traditional instructor-led trainings, the advantages of the training based on remote training system are as follows:1) Enterprises or organizations can accomplish the work on staff training and evaluation promptly, flexibly, and efficiently with the help from remote training system.2) Students can conduct self-study and self-testing at any time as long as they can surf the internet and connect to the training system.3) The real-time video teaching function of remote training system can help work unit to carry out video conferences and online seminars.Currently, the remote training system is relatively mature in foreign nations, and more and more people become beneficiaries of remote training system. However, in our nation, remote training system is still in the process of promoting, so the market demand is very obvious. Moreover, with the development of society and frequent international exchanges and cooperation, a tendency of cross-regionalization is emerging for the remote training industry, which also shows that remote training system has great potential business opportunities.The topic of this paper is based on the above background. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relevant technical used by remote training system, and utilize the thinking and methods of Web software development to illustrate the reader a fully functional and applied remote training system based on the B/S Architecture, with a full basis of the requirements analysis, system design and detailed design.The main content of this paper started from the elaboration on the background and significance of the remote training system research, and it continued in chapter2with the introduction of primary concepts and techniques involved in the design of a remote training system, such as B/S and C/S architecture, UML and load balance, etc. Chapter3unfolded its topics in both functional requirements and performance requirements, introducing the features provided for the users of remote training system and the performance characteristics that should be satisfied. Chapter4described the overall system design, including the identification of the system architecture, the functional modules and implementation plan. Chapter5presented the detail design of the system, including detailed description of each sub-functional module and related UML activity diagram. In chapter6, the table structure and ER model for database were given. Finally, chapter7discussed the future work.
