The Female Media Images Of Guangming Daily In "Seventeen Years"

"Seventeen years", as a hot topic of research, has caught academic field’s attention for years. During "Seventeen years", a significant period of time for women to enter public life from private space, mainstream media had been the major space for knowledge construction of women’s political attribute. Most scholars, however, argue that women’s gender and personalities have been ignored then in political publications because of the effort to be consistent with mainstream ideas and values, making women’s media image modeled and ritualized.Paradox exists in the media’s narration of women’s image in "Seventeen years". However, political mainstream media’s image construction of women, who is active on political stage and production lines, has affirmed and encouraged women’s ascend in status in China’s revolution and construction. Breaking the traditional female image as men’s inferior from feudal perspective, this construction has offered precondition for later emergence of independent consciousness among women.Through comprehensive sampling, the paper researches on how Guangming Daily constructs the media image of women during "Seventeen years" based on image construction theory of communication study. We analyze how democratic parties construct women’s image though media and the formation mechanism of women’s media image. After in-depth interview undertaken in5cities in China and collecting questionnaires, we endeavor to probe into the public perception of Media Image of Women.The thesis is mainly divided into four chapters, the first chapter is a preface discussing and resolving the research value,research methods and research background; the second part generalize the development process on Guangming Daily, and summarize the reporting frame during "Seventeen years" through comprehensive sampling;the third part analyze the image of women the sample reported through content analysis; the four part investigate the real female image during "Seventeen years" through depth interviewing,then comparing it to the results of reporting image. And it finally can be concluded into that:the report of Guangming Daily during "Seventeen years" has obvious Ideological characteristics with the democratic parties and the bias from official ideology, which is collective image of political and cultural mentality of the age.
