With the application of wireless sensor networks becoming more and more widely, its specificapplication requirements increased more highly too. As a core part of the wireless sensor network, routing protocols have been considered by researchers to be an important aspect affecting theperformance of wireless sensor networks. A good performance routing protocol can increaseinformation transmission rate, decrease power consumption of the network, and extend the lifetimeof the network, so as to improve network communication quality generally. However, the channelcapacity varies from network environment, the control parameters, leading to changeable networktopology. Traditional hierarchical routing protocol can not guarantee higher QoS, and maintaineddesign of each layer independent, which is improper for the needs of the wireless sensor network. Therefore, it is of great significance to study cross-layer routing protocol that adapting to wirelesssensor network.First, the dissertation presents the basic knowledge and architecture of a typical wireless sensornetworks. It gives a detailed description of related knowledge of wireless sensor networks forcross-layer design. Then it presents the necessity and research methods of cross-layer design, andon this basis highlights cross-layer design system framework agreement. At last, it highlighted thecurrent routing protocol for wireless sensor networks from the characteristics of routing protocoland challenges. Then the dissertation presents a CLAR agreement of cross-layer design. At present, whenwireless sensor network routing protocol cross-layer is designed at home and abroad, it does notinspect current state of the wireless before sending routing control packets, the dissertation will takecurrent state of wireless network into consideration while designing cross-layer routing. In CLARprotocol, after adding CQI field to RREQ packets, receiving node will determine the current state ofwireless network by value of CQI. If it meets the needs, wireless network will return RREP packetsafter processing, and then the node updating routing tables. Finally, through the study of thesimulation experiment of CLAR agreement, and compare it with the DSR protocol on performanceevaluation, the author finds that simulation results show that the application CLAR protocol canreduce the power consumption of sensor nodes, decrease network delay, and improve survival timeof wireless sensor networks and performance. Finally, the dissertation puts forward a modified routing protocol: clustering routing protools ofcross-layer energy balance. At first, the dissertation studies classical routing protocol LEACH,designs a new selection method of cluster head node, and gives an updated program of cluster head. Then, it adapts adjusted SP cross-layer structure, and put its thinking into routing protocol. In theend, it presents the protocol simulation performed by LEACH routing protocol and compare it withthe classic LEACH routing protocol on the performance evaluation, the simulation results indicatethat the new routing protocol in the dissertation can gain optimal information transfer path, underthe condition of guarantee of cluster head node connectivity and energy optimization.
