Electronic endoscope has great value for medical and industrial research and applications. The video processing system is the key part of an electronic endoscope system. This thesis developed the FPGA of a high-definition (HD) electronic endoscope video processing system.According to the characteristics of HD electronic endoscope videos, this thesis first presented the requirements of the FPGA, and then developed the input/output interface of3G-SDI, the high speed PCI-Express interface and the DDR3cache mechanism. This system has seven pieces of TILE-Gx36multicore processors for control, H.264standard encoding/decoding and image processing; has a Virtex-6family FPGA for the input/cache/output of two channels1080p60HD video data; has a Gen2PCI-Express bus for the data transmission between CPU and FPGA. This thesis developed input/output interfaces for the video data matched the required formats; a PCI-Express interface based on the FPGA IP Core for video data transmission; and a mechanism for multi-channel video data cache and formats conversion based on the Block RAM resources. Results show that, the bandwidth of the FPGA’s PCI-Express transmission reaches14.1Gbps, and the bandwidth of DDR3reaches28.6Gbps. The requirements of the system are met and the thesis achieves its desired goals.
