Combining with several technologies in electronic, optics and image, The new types of electronic endoscopes have excellent abilities in image acquisition, processing and display, thus they have been widely used in industrial non-destructive testing and modern medical treatment. Today, It is becoming an important issue of the field about how to improve it's image processing speed, intelligent management and portability. With the high-speed, large-capacity and low-power FPGA's coming out, various new design schemes of the electronic endoscope image processing system have been put forward. In this dissertation, A new type of electronic endoscope based on Actel's unique Flash FPGA is studied.In this dissertation, the development and application of electronic endoscope and digital image processing system are investigated, Several image processing method of electronic endoscopes in use are compared. On the above basis, the overall scheme of a new type of electronic endoscope system based on flash FPGA is designed. A profound research on some key circuits is also made, including video input and output interface module, image processing module, system power module etc. The schematic of the system is finished. The staple system software such as image acquision and display module (including the programmes of I2C communication protocol based on the embedded soft-core processor 8051 and initialization of each register in the video codec chips), SRAM controller module (that is ping-pong data buffer memory controller using Verilog HDL), digital image processing module etc. Finally, The methods to test the key circuits, debug the software and hardware are described, and the debugging results are given.
