The most basic component of optical system is the lens which is the key to determine the image quality of the hole optical system. There may cause a eccentricity error during the installation process if coaxial error beyond the allowable range about the machine tool revolving axle in the cold working process of lens. In this way, the coaxality of the lens group can’t be guarantee, and the image quality of the optical system will not get an ideal effect. So it has important significance for the research of lens centering technology.This paper has a depth understanding for the principle and classification of the lens centering by reading the domestic and overseas data. Design a lens centering instrument based on PSD, which range is+∞≥R≥-∞in lens radius measuring. The instrument can be used in all kinds aperture of the lens. And design an optical system which aims at semiconductor laser device for plastic beam spread collimation. The divergence angle is0.03mrad and the diameter is5mm. The size and direction of lens eccentricity can be ensured from the dispersion spot position by PSD. The accuracy of the system reaches to10".Design a adjustable mechanical structure parts, and it is easily to install the apparatus.
