Video surveillance, for its great advantages, such as visualization, convenience, accuracy and be full of rich information,now,is widely used in many fields, such as industry, commerce, traffic and community.For the disadvantages of traditional Video Surveillance, such as complex frame,lower stability and reliability,higher price and limited transfer distance,it no longer satisfies the people’needs.Unitl recent years, as the fast development of computer, network, image processing, electronice and telecommunications, a new kind of video surveillance is given brith to change this situation, which is called THE Embedded Network Video Surveillance.Aiming at video surveillance system’actual requirements combined with embedded technology,Image Processing Technology and network technology,a kind of embedded net video surveillance system is designed and implemented with good real-time capability, high reliability and low cost in this paper, MC9328MX1Microprocessor is used as hard platform and Linux with predominance,such as abundance development source and free,etc,is used as software development platform in the surveillance system.Ethernet is used as net transport medium, and TCP/IP network protocol is used in the system.This paper firstly prescribes the embedded system, video surveillance and some related technology; analyzes the development status and trends of video surveillance system at home and abroad, elaborates the background and meaning of video surveillance system study, discusses some common video surveillance solutions, and contrasts to several prevalent video compression. Secondly, The paper brings forward the soft and hard ware general frame of embedded video surveillance system, and gradually choose and details the design of hardware platform and software module. Of which, according to the needs of video data collection and solution, the hardware platform chooses camera and memorizer; in the software design process, the cross development environment construct of embedded system is firstly finished, and aiming at RAM-Linux, Linux and file system are transplanted to demo board.
