With the development of the global economy, Chinese economy has deeplyintegrated into the global economic environment. Foreign goods flow largely intoChinese market and the export amounts of Chinese commodity increase gradually.In order to prevent counterfeit and shoddy products appearance and strengthenproduct safety supervision, barcodes have been used to realize the mark ofcommodity. But the problem is that barcode may be damaged or blurred in theprocess of goods transport. So it is very important to identify damaged barcodeseffectively.The structure and coding scheme of EAN-13and QR Code were introuducedin the thesis. By comparing traditional and improved RS correctnessmeothodology, the problem of the incomplete and damaged barcodes was studiedin this paper. The error location polynomial was calculated using BM(Berlekamp-Massey) iterative algorithm, while the error location was obtained byChen’s search algorithm. Finallly, the error value was calculated using Forneyalgorithm. Experiments showed that the recognition accuracy of the incompleteand damaged barcodes was improved. By analyzing experimental data,identification of damaged1D and2D barcodes was summarized under differentconditions. In addition, the accuracy of recognition was discussed in response tothe impact of illumination.In the design process of barcode commodity information recognition system,the following work was completed. The commodity information database wasdeveloped and the recording of the commodity information was realized usingMicrosoft SQL Server2012. The connection between SQL Server database andinterface software was implemented with the help of Java Database ConnectivityDriver. The preprocessing, edge detection, location and decoding of the barcodeimage were implemented. By analyzing the rule of encode and decode of barcodes, the barcode commodity information recognition system was designedbased on the image processing. The commodity information database wasdeveloped using SQL Server, and the information represented by barcode wasacquired through the barcode recognition system.
