With the technology and theory of heat transfer detection get more and more attention, the application of heat flux sensor is more and more widely. In the aspect of industrial, heat flux sensor can be used to measure the heat flux of furnace to warn and transform equipment, to achieve security monitoring. In the aspect of agriculture, heat flux sensor can be used to measure the heat flux between the soil and outside, to get related parameters such as soil moisture and temperature. In the aerospace field, heat flux sensor can be used to measure the space heat flux for monitoring environment and ensuring equipment safety. In this paper, a heat flux sensor, with small volume, light weight, high precision, strong shock resistance and electromagnetic compatibility, is presented for several applications such as scientific research, aerospace and industrial engineering.First, the principle and the development status of the heat flux detection have been investigated, the technical index and general arrangement was designed according to the testing environment and testing requirements. Secondly, the working principle of circular foil heat flux sensor is expounded, the derivation process of the relationship between input and output of heat flux sensor is introduced. The structure of the heat flux sensor is designed according to the AN SYS thermodynamic analysis and simulation, the measuring performance in different temperature of the heat flux sensor and the linear relationship between the input and output of the heat flux sensor are also obtained from the simulation. Important manufacturing process such as welding, surface treatment, impact resistant and electromagnetic compatibility are introduced. The hardware circuit of the heat flux sensor is designed to compete the amplification and filtering of the millivolt level output signal of heat flux sensor. Finally, the calibration platform of heat flux sensor is set up to fulfill the calibration of the developed heat flux sensor, and the PC display software based on LabVIEW is designed to fulfill the real-time display. At last, the system was tested to verify the functional and technical specifications, the experiment results show that the circular foil heat flux sensor designed has the range of0-20kW/m2, the full range error of3.14%, the response time of4.8s, working time of full scale can reach more than500s, meet the requirements of design index.
