Severs are high-reliability required electronic equipments, while the vibrationcharacteristics influent their reliability and stability significantly. How to obtain severs’accurate vibration characteristics easily is a growing concern for sever designers. Toreduce costs and shorten design cycles, FEA has been employed as a new method toanalyze servers’ vibration characteristics. However, the high using-threshold of thegeneral-purpose FEA software has brought many obstacles to engineering practice. Toresolve such a problem, this paper attempts to develop a simulation support systembased on general-purpose FEA softwares, which can tamplet the standard analysisprocess and make products’ vibration simulation more efficient. The following are maintasks accomplished in this paper:1. Various secondary development methods based on ANSYS/ANSYSWorkbench have been summarized. Then the development scheme was designed.2. Combining FEA methods and modular concept, an equivalent-parameterlibrary has been built for motherboard parts, based on the constrained natural frequencyequivalent method. And SQL Server2000data base was applied to manage the library.3. A modular motherboard-vibration simulation platform has been developedbased on the equivalent parameter library built in task2.4. A built-in server vibration simulation template wizard has been accomplishedin ANSYS Workbench, linked with an external help repository of simulation expertise. The modular-simulation and part equivalent-parameter library concepts proposedin this paper are creative explorations about FEA simulation. These concepts areespecially suitable for FEA simulation of electronic equipments’ PCB boards, deservingfurther assessment and extension. The conjunct use of built-in wizard and externalhelp repository has also made a constructive attempt.
