Nowadays Chinese railway is getting rapid and stable development. On onehand, high-speed railway running mileage is over11thousand kilometers, sharing45%of the world’s total high-speed railway running mileage. On the other hand, thespeed of test vehicle produced by CRS reaches605kilometers per hour. Track gage isa specially-used measuring instrument that is widely equipped by railway engineeringdepartment, and digital and high-precision track gage now is the main trend. However,existing digital track gage only performs measuring function of mechnical track gageand can’t take advantages of modern digital technologies, such as database, so that ithas a few functions and is unable to implement complex information processing. Alsothe indoor data processing software based on PC developed by track gagemanufacturers only becomes adviser after inspection. In one word, existing track gageproductions are far away from the concepts of digital and networked measurementand digital railway.This paper presents a new track gage application mode of using Android mobilephone as function extended platform and field control terminal. Because of the lowprice, full function and openness, Android is the world’s most popular mobile phoneplatform. More importantly, depending on the network resources, hardware resourcesand software resources supported by mobile phone, track gage has some newtechnical characteristics.Centering on the detail analysis of functional requirements of track gage, thispaper gives a detail description of the necessity and probability of new functions thatsmart phones can bring and the development process of the application platform oftrack gage on Android mobile phone. Firstly, the implementation of Androidapplication development environment is described briefly. Then, the interactionprototype design of the application is introduced by giving examples. Finally, thecode realization of different functions is presented. At the end of this paper, theprotection technique of Android application is studied carefully and some majortechnical means to fight against reverse engineering are presented.
