Video conference is an efficient way of communicating. With the advance of economic globalization, means of timely and expressive communication is needed in response to changing market conditions. Because of its fewer cost, rich functionality and easy using, software video conference system is now widely used in business, education, healthcare and other occasions. In this thesis, a study of video conference based on Red5is done according to the actual project requirement proposed by the company.Consider of the demand of user experience and processing efficiency, client functions are designed in this thesis. In order to improve the efficiency of system interaction, RIA is used to achieve independent client applications. Interface of the functions are designed and realized, the interaction process between client and server are planned.Consider of the video concurrent requests of multipoint video conference, a performance test of system servers is made to analysis and study the performance bottlenecks of servers which may be caused by concurrent clients. In order to increase the number of clients that servers can support, a clustered architecture is presented in this thesis. Scheduling server, connecting servers and responding servers work collaboratively trying to reduce the number of service interruptions and improve concurrent performance.A series of tests of client functions are made, and the results have showed that the client interface of the video conferencing system designed and implemented in this thesis is fully functional, easy to use, highly suit the underlying system, in line with customer preferences, and achieve the expected objectives. A stress test of server cluster is made, and the result has showed that the cluster implemented in the thesis can overcome the difficulties of concurrent bottlenecks, increase the number of concurrent users significantly, improve the user capacity of the system and achieve the requirements of the project.
