In recent years, wireless network bandwidth grows, terminal processing power improves rapidly, and video codec technology also becomes more mature than ever before. Because of these, mobile streaming media technology has grown by leaps and bounds. Many mobile streaming media services have also been widely developed, and the times of mobile broadband access has been entered.With the developing of the Internet and video processing technology, the producing, store and transform of the video are more and more convenient, and the amount of videos on the Internet are greatly increased. Videos are widely used in many kinds of areas such as entertainment, education and sports. However, video is a high dimensional data, does not have clear structure, and contains a mass of semantic information, so video retrieval and browsing is very difficult for user. It is necessary for video DBMS to provide users with a method which can efficiently gain the brief content from a large amount of videos.The aim of "Design and Implementation of Media Server of Mobile Interactive Streaming Media System" is to design a media server, which can provide user-oriented video browsing and interactive streaming media service, realize clip-style browsing and interactive downloading media files on the server for mobile terminal users, allow users to browse the brief content of the video and play interested clips without downloading the whole file, and make users enjoy this special browsing and playing experience.Firstly, key technologies in the media server system are introduced, including mobile streaming media technology, video summarization technology and video codec technology. And then, the architecture and function requirements of mobile interactive streaming media system are introduced. Then, the design and implementation of media server system are proposed, including business process, high-level architecture, modules detail design and implementation. Especially, browse module and GUI are described in detail. And then, the test environment is introduced. Besides, the test cases and results are also described.Finally, the whole thesis is summarized, and the current shortcoming of the media server and future work are given. Work and research during master are listed at last.
