Attendance checking is an important link to strengthen the management of students, maintain the teaching order, and guarantee the straight-ahead finishment of all kinds of teaching tasks, and is also a necessary measure to strengthen the discipline and restrict the behaviors of students. In traditional methods, the attendance information of students is usually obtained through the teacher’s roll calling, which is time and energy cost when there are lots of students in the classroom. But when adopting the solution of traditional entrance guard systems such as time attendance machine, fingerprint time attendance recorder, barrier and video monitor etc, there are also drawbacks such as not healthy, forged card stamping, slow passing through speed, and when there are lots of people waiting passing through the entrance guard system, they will form a long line. So the value of these entrance guard systems will be affected.Different from the above traditional methods and techniques, in this thesis, the attendance system based on internet of things is reseached, in which, computer techniques, auto control techniques and long distance RFID techniques are combine, the functions such as security management, auto control, alarm management, passing record of people, joint operation of multiple systems are integrated, and the new system has excellent security management and passing through authentification mechanisms, adopts joint operation of multiple systems techniques and humanization design concepts, has extensible network structure, and can realize secure management of the people and the entrances, through non-touching card stamping to pass, reject and record people’s entrance. The main works done in this paper include the following:(1) The technology of internet of things is overviewed, and especially, the two mjor technologies in the internet of things such as the wireless sensor networks and the RFID techniques are introduced in detail. And then, based on these previous introductions, the system architecture of a kind of new attendance system based on the internet of things is designed and pointed out.(2) As for the forged card stamping problem existed in the traditional attendance systems for students, a new algorithm based on RFID indoor position location techniques is proposed to prevent against forged card stamping. Experimental results show that the new algorithm can guarantee fast roll calling, and at the same time, can solve the problem of forged card stamping efficiently.(3) On the basis of above system architecture of the new attendance system based on the internet of things, and the new algorithm based on RFID indoor position location techniques to prevent against forged card stamping, a new attendance system based on the internet of things is designed and realized, which adopts JAVA to develop and design, and the system softwares include environment initialization module, real-time roll calling module, and attendance information inquiring module and so on. Experimental results show that the newly proposed attendance system based on the internet of things has good operating ability, and can guarantee the real-time attendance checking for students, and simultaneously, can efficiently find out whether or not there are students who are helping others stamp the cards.
