With the rapid development of economy, urban construction is developing and improving. Traditional mode of urban management not only requires a lot of manpower and material resources, but also there are a lot of management dead ends. Because of force majeure factors, traditional urban management based on human model also make security risks not be found in time. Development and progress of science and technology, especially development of IoT (Internet of Things) which is the represent of the next generation of information technology, provides urban management strong technical support. Applying IoT to urban management will solve the various disadvantages of traditional urban management mode. Using IOT to monitor urban parts in a real-time way will continuously feedback the state information of the urban parts. This way can discover security risks in the city, and benefit to the realization of meticulous urban management mode. This paper studies the related technologies about IoT, including RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), wireless sensor network and network technology. Basing on the study, this paper designs and develops RFID tag, tilt sensors, and sensor network node. Using RFID tags to identify city parts, using tilt sensors to capture information of city parts and using wireless sensor networks to receive and forward the collected information. The final goal is to install the developed equipment on city parts. If this system is applied in urban management to not only monitor urban parts in a real-time way and feedback the state information of the urban parts, but also to find the city’s security risks and respond the alarm event information to the control centre. This system dramatically improves the efficiency and accuracy of urban management and has important practical significance for meticulous urban management mode.
