It is very universal that batch of copying and distributing the digital media content protected by the intellectual property rights owing to the easy lossless copying and distribution. Secure and efficient content protection schemes have been the most urgent technology demand of the current media content application. On the one hand, it is not enough to only adopt the encryption techniques that merely play the role when transferring and distributing content. On the other, when the content is decrypted, the encryption techniques will not protect the content. But the content can only be enjoyed and used after decryption. Therefore, it is a must that some certain technique can protect the content after decrypting the content. The key technologies and evaluation methods in digital content protection system are mainly studied, with the focus on the combination between the digital watermarking, iris biometric feature information, and the cryptography. The main results are summarized as follows.1. In order to explore the new methods for solving the digital media content protection problems, iris biometric information feature is systematic studied. First, the iris capturing device is developed. Second, iris location algorithm proposed by Daugman is improved. Third, an iris feature extraction and encoding algorithm based on wavelet is proposed. Experimental results show the proposed iris feature analysis methods are convenient and practical.2. A nondestructive iris feature watermarking scheme for the network transmission of iris information and the remote recognition of the user in the multimedia system is proposed. The watermark is generated by the user's face image, and is embedded in the user's iris encoding information, the identified watermark for a specific person is constructed combining iris biometric feature and watermarking principles, which can establish the other authentication relationship except the iris recognition. Simulation results show the proposed scheme can improve the creditability of the iris recognition system, resist the malicious attacks to the iris information, and is robust to many image operations.3. A digital image copyright protection method based on adaptive watermarking embedding and ICA-based extraction for the real application is proposed. The adaptive watermark embedding and blind extraction is constructed by using the statistical independence among the host image, watermark, and the key. Experimental results show the method has good performance. On one hand, it is robust to many kinds of image operations, which can extract the watermark effectively. On the other, it has the high real-time feature, which adapts to the DTV content protection system.4. An image content authentication scheme using iris watermarking of specific person for proving the rightful ownership of some certain important digital content is proposed. The watermark is generated by the preprocessed iris image. The recovered iris information from the blind watermark extraction period can achieve the authentication. Simulation results show the proposed scheme is robust to many kinds of image operations, and is highly secure.5. A digital content protection scheme based on iris biometric and cryptography for multimedia content protection is proposed. The double recognition technology combining iris and smart card can conduct the mutual authentication.The authentication process can protect the user's privacy. The iris information is produced in the smart card terminal, while the human identification can be confirmed by the iris feature matching in the remote server. The whole transmission process is encrypted and processes no data in the client. Analysis show the scheme is highly secure, which can resist the illegal key exchange and prevent playback attack.6. A role-based DRM technological draft standard for the home network and IPTV is proposed. The standard prescribes the system architecture reference model, domain management reference model, content and key management reference model, DRM terminal reference model, etc. The practical application show the proposed standard is helpful for the integration of DRM products, and can meet the demands of the IPTV copyright protection.7. A video watermarking content protection system test method for verifying the copyright protection systems in digital cinema and IPTV is proposed. According to the watermarking characteristics, a digital watermarking test platform is developed, which can verify the compliance of the watermarking-based content protection standards. The evaluation indexes for the existing DRM systems are analyzed, and a test scheme for the IPTV content protection is discussed.
