With the rapid development of economic, China’s demand for the Internet ofThings increasing. As an important bearer network of the Internet of Things,sensor network has achieved great development, and the technical specificationsin the short-range wireless of sensor self-organizing network emerges in endlessly,especially ZigBee technology has been widely recognized by the industry area.Therefore, more and more manufacturers begin to produce ZigBee modules, eachZigBee module has widely used in the field of wireless sensor network.Because of increased ZigBee passthrough modules, the capacity ofinterconnectivity among objects and the compatibility of different applicationprotocol of ZigBee products have paid more attention. The compatibility ofZigBee products is very important which decide extensive use of ZigBee products.OPC has penetrated into a number of industrial fields in China, it transformdifferent data format into a unified format, which could be invoked for upperclient programs. In order to be compatible with real-time data of different ZigBeedevices and provide unified interface to upper client programs which based onOPC standard, it is very necessary to develop OPC Server for ZigBee network.This paper particularly describes how to solve the practical problem in theprocess of the development of the OPC Server for ZigBee Network. It analyzesthe characteristics of the ZigBee protocol and selects ZigBee modules of twodifferent manufacturers respectively as experiment subject as well, one is ZigBeemodule of SZ series of Shanghai Shunzhou and the other one is ZigBee moduleof the innovation experiment system of OURS-IOTV2-2530, then extracting andanalyzing their application protocols. According to the OPC standard analysis,four modules of OPC server has been designed and achieved, which includes thesystem management module of OPC server, interface module, data storagemanagement module and data reading module. It also achieves the compatible of application protocol of different ZigBee passthrough module. This paper not onlyachieve compatible with real-time data of ZigBee devices of two manufacturers,but also have the ability to manage and save the data and be invoked for upperclient at any time. A simplely interface of server could be designed at the sametime.Finally, this paper selects laboratory room E0804and E0806in the mainbuilding of Harbin University of Science and Technology as experimental sites,using the standard OPC client program to test this ZigBee OPC server. Testingresult shows that ZigBee OPC server could realize corresponding function. It isstepped with design requirement in order to testify that the method is corret.
