In the era of internet of things, due to its characteristics of short-range, low-complexity,self-organization, low-power, low data rate and low-cost, ZigBee has been widely applied inthe field of short distance wireless communication with prosperous prospects.Nowadays, in domestic, most of the studies in regards of ZigBee technology is conductedon application stage rather than on research and implementation of ZigBee protocol stackitself. Furthermore, there is not even a complete set of ZigBee protocol stack withindependent property intellectual being developed and found in China mainland. Protocolstack provided by foreign chip manufactures here is always bind with chip and only providesAPI function of encapsulation. This seriously hinders domestic users to further develop andutilize ZigBee technology. For above reasons, the aim of this dissertation is to develop a tidyZigBee protocol stack with independent property rights using stratification from ground.Major contributions presented in this dissertation are as following:Firstly, based on profound study and analysis on the content of IEEE802.15.4and ZigBeespecification PRO, the content of protocol has been cut properly and the severe mainfunctions of protocol stack has been extracted as main goals according to project requirementsand laboratory hardware facilities.Secondly, a hardware platform is established with AT86RF212as RF module andATmega128as MCU, both of which are from Atmel Company. Then the physical layer andMAC layer are designed and implemented under this hardware platform. Researches aremainly conducted on the process of MAC layer implementation to achieve and obtain asimple but effective MAC layer module. In the end, based on the achieved physical layer and MAC module, a ZigBee starnetwork is designed, implemented and ported to the hardware platform for experimentalvalidation. The algorithm of stack allocation address being brought forward during thisprocess will greatly accelerate the speed of network networking and improve the stability ofthe overall network.
