With the rapid development of electronic industry, SMT equipment has been widelyapplied in large-scale electronic assembly production. As the main part of electricalinterconnection technology and main technology of surface mount technology in SMT. Aftermore than20years of development, the SMT has become a modern electronic products ofPCB circuit component level interconnection main technical means. In PCB production, SMTcomponent is the bottleneck of the whole production line, and the key to determine the wholeproduction line production efficiency.Mounting head is the foremost execution unit of the SMT machine,also is a complexsystem in the combination of machinery and electric. With the control of the control systemMounting head pick up components accurately and rapidly, and then adjust component’sposition and angle through the visual system automaticly. Mounting head’s development is thehallmark of the SMT progress.The realization of present mounting head of SMT machine, is connected by each otherbetween each function module and head of pasted on the electrical system. Such as thecontroller of input and output signal, image capture card and motion control card. Presentdesign makes the system complex, high standards on the structural design requirements,higher cost and lower stability of the system, need a complex control software.In view of the present design and function with the electrical part of the mounting headdesign and functional requirements, in order to satisfy the high level of integration andversatility of the new high speed and high precision SMT machine,we design a generaldutysystem that integrates all the function in the mounting head. The FPGA (Field ProgrammableGate Array) Chip was used to construct a SOPC (System On Programmable Chip) System, tojoin the corresponding circuit module,constitute a complete universal mounting head interfacecard. In this paper, research work mainly includes the following parts:(1) Analysize and define functions of the controller in the new mounting head, determinethe execute solution based on the FPGA platform.(2) According to the function of the new mounting head controller’s demands,Design anddebugging. the system based on Xilinx Spartan-6series FPGA hardware platform andperipheral function module.(3) On FPGA platform customization of SOPC system based on Microblaze soft coremicroprocessor, the design has realized the general controller software functions based onXilkernel embedded operating system. (4) At last, designed CCD image acquisition control system and VGA interface controllerbased on VHDL IP core, achieved the new mounting head control system with the function ofimage acquisition and monitoring.
