Surface Mounting Technology (SMT) is a kind of technology which curing SMD in soldering side of Print circuit block. Surface mounting machine is an important equipment in production line, and mounting head is one of the most critical component in surface mounting machine, it has a few movements, such as pick up, location, placed and so on. Through more than equipped with suction nozzle, it can put all kinds of resistor, capacitor, IC components. Through electrical control system to control the feeding, automatic correction, placed on PCB. So mounting head is directly related to the precision, quality and speed.Nowadays, the rotation mounting head of technology on market is controlled by one of few foreign placement machine company, domestic generally is the linear combination of mounting head, the more mounting head, the faster the speed. But with this model, mounting head will have big size of structure, and the inertia has been increased, Which affects the dynamic performance of X-Y axis, not only increase the drive motor drive ability, but also affect the mounting precision and stability. This paper is proposed for this problem and designed a horizontal rotating mounting head. This paper deals with the mechanical structure and the control method of horizontal rotating mounting head, in order to provide premise and guarantee with realize high speed and efficient performance.(1) According to the current placement machine research situation, horizontal rotating mounting head design requirements are put forward. According to SMT process, design the overall scheme of horizontal rotating mounting head. Including the structure design, nozzle module design, pneumatic system design and confirm the transmission. According to the requirement of rotating mounting head, determine structure of parts of mounting head, vacuum/blowing decorate, and its sealing, and so on. Comparing the advantages and disadvantages of various transmission form, determine the transmission form of mounting head. According to the requirements of the absorbing, designed pneumatic circuit for horizontal rotating mounting head. Have a detailed analysis of the working process for mounting head.(2) According to the structure of horizontal rotating mounting head, the kinematics analysis was carried out, nozzle kinematics mathematical equation is deduced, get the mapping relationship between each joint variable and nozzle. Using ADAMS software, horizontal rotating mounting head is simulated under actual working condition of dynamic simulation analysis, provide theoretical basis for each drive motor selection. Using ANASYS software, the key parts of mounting head is simulated under statics analysis and modal analysis, analysis results show that the mounting head can remain stable in the work, it will not affect the working performance.(3) The construction of the drive for horizontal rotating mounting head, by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of PC control system and PLC control system, determine the control system scheme of mounting head. Select the suitable movement control cards, calculation and selection of the motor for horizontal rotating mounting head. The motor parameters compared with the simulation, in order to confirm the correctness of the motor selection.
