With the expansion of production scale and the increasing of automation extent, theproduction accidents are more frequent, which brings a huge threat to the enterprise andpeople’s lives and property. Especially in petrochemical enterprises, it easily causesproduction accidents because the materials and products are explosive and generally requireshigh temperature and high pressure conditions in production process. In order to effectivelyprevent the production accidents, monitor and early warn the production accidents, it’s urgentneed to research the safety monitoring technology.In order to achieve these objectives, Guangdong Province launched a research project:“the Development of the Critical Monitoring Technologies Based on Internet of Things".What I do in this paper is a subsystem of this project-"Embedded Communication System".In this paper, I design and implement an embedded communication system based on theInternet of Things. This system’s hardware is mainly the TQ6410development board, thedevelopment board equipped with the microprocessor S3C6410as the core, collect images viaUSB interface to connect the UVC camera, transmit data and send results throught the RS232serial port to connect a GPRS module named SIM900A.The system is intended for embedded application, choose the embedded Linux system asthe operating system. According to the needs of the project, cut the Linux3.0system kerneland transplant the customized Linux system to the development board, which improve thesystem’s loading time.During the implementation of the system, divide the system to two modules: the imagecapture module and the wireless transmission module. The image capture module mainly usethe V4L2to control the camera, use Qt4.5to code the image capture embedded application.The wireless transmission module includes two functions: firstly, using the GPRS module toconnect the TCP server through the PPP protocol; secondly, the results will be processed to bea SMS or MMS and send to a phone through the GPRS module.The experiments shows that the captured images can successfully transmit to the TCPserver through the network connection established by the GPRS module, the transmissionspeed can meet the needs of the project.
