At present, with the rapid development of economy in our country, theenvironmental problems are produced gradually, that makes it hard to protectenvironment, and especially the air environmental problem becomes more prominent,therefore, the request of man is getting higher and higher in air environmental monitoring.The industry of Internet of things which is being developed rapidly and has acharacteristic of real-time and efficient provides a new technology and method for airenvironmental monitoring, which not only overcomes the problems of poor real-time andmaintenance difficulties, but also could achieve more effective and reliable monitoring ofair environment.Using the key technology of Internet of things, the paper accomplished an airenvironmental monitoring system, which was composed of a wireless sensor network anda remote server monitoring center, and the whole design of the system was described inthe paper. In the system, the wireless sensor network adopted ZigBee and GPRS to realize,and the monitoring software running in the remote server monitoring center was realizedby Microsoft Visual C++6.0. The main research contents are as follows:1) There were two node types in the wireless sensor network: sensor nodes and gat-eway nodes. The sensor nodes were built with CC2530, and they were responsible forcollecting environmental data in real time, then sending data to the gateway node viamulti-hop; the gateway nodes as the core were consisted of ZigBee wirelesscommunication module and main controller module and GPRS module, they were builtwith LPC2138and responsible for establishing ZigBee network and summarizing the dataof sensor nodes, meanwhile implementing communication with the remote server andsending data using GPRS module.2) The monitoring software running in the remote server monitoring center was de-veloped by VC++based on MFC framework, and could implement the communicationwith the client(GPRS module), data presentation and storage. The communication with client (GPRS module) was implemented by socket programming; data presentation wasimplemented by the Edit Box control and ListBox control that were provided by MFC;data storage was implemented by using VC called Excel interface. The monitoringsoftware provided a good man-machine interface for the system and facilitated greatly theview and analysis of historical data.
