With the rapid development of computer and network technology, in order toimprove the production management skill,more and more enterprises begin to use theproduction management system. Thetraditional structure of the MIS has been unable tomeet today with higher speed and more extensive information processing needs. Intoday’s rapid enterprise information development, to develop inventory managementsystem which is based on modem inventory theory and information technology becomesmore and more important.In the situation of the economic and information globalization, theenterprisesurgently need the implementation of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) to optimizethe management and to increase profits.Theinventory management system is animportant part of the Enterprise Resource Planning. The traditional inventorymanagement is difficult to adapt to the complex and changeable market. With thedevelopment of computer technology, network technologyand logistics technology, it isbecome more and more important to research the inventory management system modelin supply chain environment. Furthermore it has the important practical significance onhow to use computer system to assist the inventory management.For a long time, we have carried on a large amount of deep theoretical research oninventory management system of steel mill, such as the characteristics of the products,production modeling and business-process. In this thesis, the research of the inventorymanagement system and characteristics of the manufacturing concern are analyzed. Webuild the general function model of the system and the key functions of the system.Further more we use C++builder and SQL Server Server2005to develop this system.Now the system has been successfully used in the steel mill enterprise. The result showsthat the research work in this thesis is effective and feasible. The research results of thethesis can offer beneficial reference in the development manufacturing inventorymanagement.
