With the development of multimedia and network technology, the video monitoringsystem in the picture quality, resolution and function is higher required. The past videomonitoring system can’t satisfy the current market and practical application demand gradually. With the rapid development of embedded technology and video image compression codingtechnology, one of hot topic is the embedded video acquisition and network transmissionsystem based on embedded system in current research, which has low power consumption, high integration, good real-time and versatility, and so on. So it is to make up for the lack ofthe current video monitoring system. The paper summarizes the characteristics of the current embedded video acquisition andnetwork transmission, compares with all kinds of embedded video acquisition andtransmission scheme and designs an embedded video acquisition and network transmissionsystem based on FPGA.Firstly, according to the system performance requirements and characteristics of FPGA,the paper presents a collaborative program of work based on hard real-time systems and softreal-time systems. The hard real-time systems complete the video capture, compression, colorspace conversion, and VGA display work based on Verilog HDL. The soft real-time systemscomplete network transmission of video data based on NIOS II.Secondly, according to the resource requirements of the system, the paper designs ahardware block diagram of the system; expounds the principle of each module chip select, and gives the various modules of the circuit schematic. Then the paper expounds the issues ofanti-jamming system. Subsequently, the design of the circuit board PCB is completed.Again, the paper designs a concrete realization of the system software, a detaileddepiction of the various modules involved in hard real-time systems and soft real-timesystems. This article focuses on the wavelet transform to enhance the JPEG2000standardalgorithm in the system FPGA implementation and experimental test data and images. Finally, the paper verifies the feasibility of the FPGA embedded video capture andnetwork transmission systems through a variety of experiments and test methods, so that thesystem in high-quality real-time transmission of video images at the same time provides morefunctionality to meet the design requirements.
