The development of modern communication is based on not only users' requirement for new services but also impetus from new technologies. When a new technology is used in communication system, it provides foundation for services in the future. CDMA is employed in the third generation wireless communication system. But only CDMA technology can not offer ability for high-quality video and multimedia services. The fourth generation communication system is inclined to use multi-carrier modulation technology or make CDMA and MCM combined for wide-band, high speed rate services. MCM is a research hotspot in wireless communication system.The development of new technology often results from new theory. The use of new theory and new method can improve or even renovate radically the communication technology such as modulation and demodulation, encoding and decoding. Wavelet is a new theory and DWT-OFDM base-band transmission system is MCM based on discrete wavelet transform. This thesis has researched the characteristics and performance of DWT-OFDM base-band transmission system, have compared the performance with conventional OFDM system.
