With the rapid development of communication network technology, the development direction of optical transmission network in the core level, access level and aggregation level has gradually evolved into optical transport network (OTN) and packet transport network (PTN). The use of OTN and PTN technology for network deployment, especially in the different network levels, has great advantages. Large particles capacity of OTN technology can be utilized when large-capacity traffic occurs. In contrast, sophisticated management of traffic and customers can be achieved with the help of PTN technology.OTN technology and PTN technology originate from SDH and WDM technology. PTN technology is based on packet switching core, and the SDH can be totally replaced by PTN. OTN technology can improve the poor networking ability of WDM technology. Proper combination of OTN and PTN will significantly improve the utilization efficiency of fiber optic cable and the network transmission ability. Nowadays, in the traffic requirement-oriented construction projects, this will rapidly meet the develop requirement of the network operations, realize intelligent, IP-based and all-optical network communication, and provide more bandwidth, higher security and longer transmission distance for the development of network communications.With the analysis of the existing SDH and WDM network transmission technology, the dissertation mainly introduces OTN and PTN technology, and the characteristics of OTN and PTN combined network are pointed out. By taking Heilongjiang Mobile traffic model as an example, this dissertation provides detailed analyses of the specific networks of Heilongjiang Mobile. Moreover, based on its basic networks, a networking program that has regional characteristics and meets future traffic development needs is adopted. The PTN/OTN combined networking plan for Heilongjiang Mobile is performed in order to improve the stability and the transmission capacity of the network. After the construction of the OTN+PTN network, the PTN and TD traffic s docking pressure, and the OTN protection switching were tested, respectively. The test results show that the modern network can adapt to the current large flow, high bandwidth network environment. Performance test were launched to a variety of applications of Harbin mobile company which are based on the constructed modern network, and the test results show further the advantages of OTN+PTN networking.
