Iodine generator supplies COIL with iodine vapor. Digital regulator is exploited as a conventional tool for temperature control in thermal evaporation of iodine. Nevertheless, a few drawbacks such as low accuracy or non-flexible algorithm existing in applications deteriorate iodine vapor supply even quality of COIL. Automatically controlled iodine generator is thereby concentrated on to guarantee COIL in good performance.The physical feature of iodine leads to complex process of boiling heat transfer that the state of iodine changes from solid to gas. The segmented interpretations and computations aim at the whole process of heating iodine in this paper.The IGCS (Iodine Generator Control System) for constant temperature and pressure control is designed and implemented with components like computer, PLC, sensors and heaters.The application of human machine interface is developed with Lab VIEW and runs in computer. The application includes user interface and communication programs. The user interface programs offer functionalities like display, setting, manual control and data storage. The programs in PLC undertake data acquisition, time sequence execution and PID algorithm, as well as connections with sensors, heaters and valves.The experimental results account for the IGCS in the static/dynamic process that within30seconds iodine gas blows steadily with less than10%fluctuation.
