Railway grass-roots network refers to the computer communication network between the railway region (the original branch bureau) and the grass-roots units such as stations. Along with the gradual increase of network applications, grass-roots network carries increasingly heavy loads, network performance has gradually decreased. At the same time, the viruses and network attacks also aggravate the deterioration of the network performance, has seriously affected the normal operation of railway operation system. The traditional solution is to rely on the administrator to carry on the manual management to the network, but with the expansion of network scale, this manual management has appeared to be inadequate, moreover, solving problems after they occur has affected the normal application of the system, as a result, information management department is very passive. In order to change this situation, improve the quality of network service, it is necessary to study the application of advanced network management technology.Network performance management can reasonably schedule network resources, optimize the allocation of network resources, and guarantee the service quality of network application.Performance monitoring is the basic work of the network performance management, it is also an important module of the network management functions. By collecting the characteristic parameters of network performance, real-time monitoring network performance, helps to find the network performance anomalies promptly, gains time to analyze and solve problems, provides the basis for the scheduling and optimization of network resources.Therefore, this paper takes the railway grass-roots computer communications network as the background, studies the methods and techniques for monitoring network performance based on the simple network management protocol to solve the problem of the lack of grass-roots network performance monitoring tools, ultimately achieves the purpose of mastering the grass-roots network performance status at any time and determining the the grass-roots network performance bottleneck node and link as early as possible. Network performance data collection is the basis and key steps for monitoring the situation of grass-roots network performance. This paper focuses on the network performance data acquisition technology, analyzes the grass-roots network performance data acquisition principle, technical characteristics and managed object, puts forward a method of data acquisition in dynamic frequency, namely, using different time intervals to collect data according to the different conditions of the network, to solve the problem of consuming too much network bandwidth in the data acquisition process.On this basis, this paper describes the design and implementation of railway grass-roots network performance monitoring system. The system is developed in the Windows environment, using Microsoft Visual C++6.0combined with the third-party software development kit SNMP++. The system mainly monitors network connectivity as well as dynamic changes of performance metrics such as network interface utilization rate, bandwidth utilization rate, packet loss rate, throughput, memory utilization rate and CPU utilization rate of the network equipment etc. When the network performance is abnormal, the system can remind network management personnel with voice and text alarm to find and solve the problem as early as possible, guarantee the grass-roots network quality of services.
