One of core devices of TV (television) is TV display processing SOC chip which had been monopolized by Taiwan, the U.S. and the European companies, such as Mstar, Mtk, Realtek, NovaTek in Taiwan and Philips, Trident, Marvell, Qualcomm, Broadcom in U.S. and European. These companies are technically in a leading position to master the core technology such as processor, decoder, and picture processing and so on; besides tool software supporting is relatively complete. In order to break the monopoly and dependence of foreign TV SOC chip, Hisense Group Limited took the lead in researching TV chip. Through years of R&D, Hisense successfully developed the first domestic TV video processing chip VPE1x and overcome monopoly of foreign companies in the field of digital TV by successfully developed serialized video processing chip so as to promote application of domestic digital television SOC chip proposal.The chip design requires integration of a variety of complex multimedia processing algorithms. Great challenges are put forward in testable design and low-power design because of high integration of SOC. It needs high requirements in deep sub-micron production and manufacturing technology. Operating system is embedded in the chip and software integration and complexity are rapid growed. Methods of chip design and verification have changed dramatically as progress of technology. It is clearly that multimedia chip design is a complex systems engineering which need coordinations of kinds of departments such as algorithms, hardware, software, systems, manufacturing and so on, meantime kinds of tool softwares support is also needed in the processes of design and it is needed to communicate with outsourcing manufacturers about chip verification after design. In order to improve the domestic IC design and verification level, chip design verification platform is researched so as to improve development efficiency of chip and reduce risk and increase the technology accumulation in this project.The project which is based on development of Hisense Group Limited LCD TV SOC chip, mainly undertake FPGA development platform design and implementation of the TV SOC chip and verification of SOC machine platform. In this paper FPGA system design, module design and test verification are introduced explicitly, importantly what is to be completed in this paper are TV SOC chip system theory knowledge summary, FPGA hardware system design, FPGA simulation verification platform design based on Xilinx Virtex-5design, FPGA software system design, and performance comparison of FPGA simulation platform and so on. FPGA verification platform covering most of the function module of the chip, at the same time the machine of TV SOC is accomplished, at the same time, in strict accordance with the "Hisense domestic machine development norms" requirements.
