As one of the urban development infrastructure, street light plays an irreplaceable role in the city’s traffic safety and the lives of people. In early stage, street lights were usually controlled by manual, in the late20th century, street light were controled by timer control and light control as the core to box. In recent years, the distributed monitoring system was used progressively in the control of city lights, which not only improved the flexibility of street light control, but also played an active role in many situations, such as emergencies, changes in the weather, funding the failure of the street light and improving the level of scientific management of the street lights. In general, in order to achieve the target of street light control, distributed monitoring system change the RTU control supply through box transformer, which could not effectively control the operating conditions and control of street light single lamp. In this article, aiming at the demands of the street light single lamp control system, we analyzed the ways of single lamp control based on power line carrier and ZigBee technology, put forward a street light single lamp control method based on WSN, and designed and researched the single lamp controller node.The paper first described the features and architecture of the WSN, focused on analyzing the research results of MAC protocol and the network layer protocol of WSN. On the foundation of analyzing WSN technology, according to the detection of the street light single lamp’s working state, switch control and functional requirements of wireless data transmission, designed single lamp controller hardware.This article based on Freescale’s MC9S08AC16as core to build a hardware platform., designed the lamp state detection circuit based on current transformer and street light control circuit based on relay, designed the detection circuit that relay contacted position to gain the relay switch feedback, designed the RF unit of single light controller by using wireless digital module product to ensure the stability and reliability of controller nodes’communications.The paper analyzed the characteristics of street light single lamp controller node in detail, such as manual deployment, energy unlimited, multi-hop communication, regular array, sub-cluster structure, the star and tree network topology structure of controller node, designed the network layer packet format of controller node, designed the network layer packet format of controller nodes, according to the features of controller node, developed a random delay forward protocol of network layer. Established a simulation environment based on OMNeT++simulation platform and MiXiM module, simulated and analyzed the packet radio propagation time for the network topology of three controller nodes_according to sink node was in different position, and compared the random delay forwarding routing protocol designed with the end-to-end delay of flooding routing protocol, the Simulation results showed that the data packet propagation time of random delay forwarding protocol designed was less than Flooding protocol.According to the hardware design of the controller, a street light controller node test platform was established, developed the current state detecting, Street light switch controling and wireless communication program of single lamp controller node, checked out the correctness of the current detecting, relay control, and wireless communication according to the test platform.Test results showed that the single lamp controller node could properly achieve the basic function of detection, control and communications, and verified the correctness of the system.
