Wireless Sensor Networks(Wireless Sensor Networks,WSN)are playing important roles more and more in military,industrial Internet of Things,smart appliance,environmental protection and so on.With the widespread applications of sensor networks,the security issue of WSN are becoming urgent requirement.In academic scope,the researchers have proposed many security protocols and algorithms which were related to the security challenges of WSN.Due to the characteristics and large network structure and scale of WSN,the simulation experiments are usually needed in order to verify the security of proposed protocol.However,the current simulation platforms have limitations in WSN security protocol simulation.To the best of our knowledge,there is rare professional WSN-oriented security protocol simulation tool or systems are designed.Therefore,it is a meaningful work to design a novel simulation platform with the security for academic research and system application in WSN.Based OMNeT++,this paper develops a special platform for WSN(OMNeT++ based WSN Security Protocol Simulation Platform,WSPSim).The author hopes that WSPSim may make up the shortage of current simulation platform,promote the simulation ability of WSN and provide a new technical measure to design and verify a security protocol.(1)In view of the lack of simulation tools for WSN security protocol,we use the infrastructure and tools of OMNe T++ simulator to build a simulation platform wspsim for WSN security protocol.The architecture of the platform adopts the module classification mechanism,including wireless sensor module,wireless channel module,energy consumption module,data generation module and security module.The platform is based on the integrated development environment of Eclipse platform,using gcc to compile C / C++ program to realize network simulation,which can reduce the cost of development and improve the efficiency of WSN security protocol simulation.(2)In view of the lack of security module in security protocol simulation software,we propose WSN security protocol model,which enriches the security protocol simulation module.The platform embeds security module into OMNeT++,and introduces three optional security mechanisms: encryption algorithm,privacy protection and trust value evaluation.In the encryption algorithm and privacy protection mechanism,the classic algorithm is pre-installed,which is convenient for the improvement of the security protocol.In the trust evaluation mechanism,the improved trust evaluation model is proposed,and the parameter interface of simulation software is preset,which provides technical support for the development and verification of new security protocols.(3)The typical WSN protocol is simulated and analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the WSPSim simulation platform.This paper compares the simulation results between the LEACH protocol using the MD5 hash algorithm as well as the trust evaluation mechanism and the typical LEACH protocol to verifies the correctness of the simulation platform and illustrates the improvement of protocol security.In addition,under the same simulation environment and the same simulation parameters,the improved LEACH protocol was simulated on NS-3 to compare the performance of the two simulation platforms.Through simulation experiments,it proves that the platform can correctly simulate the series of WSN protocols and algorithms,and has a better performance in adaptability and simplicity than other simulation platforms.
