Wireless sensor network has great application value in many fields such as medical, health, environment monitoring, ecological protection and military battlefield. Reasonable and effective network simulation platform will provide objective and reliable quantitative basis, shorten the construction period of internet, improve scientific decision in the network construction and reduce the investment risk of the construction of the network for the planning and design of the network. Therefore, the design and development of a reasonable and effective simulation platform is of great significance to the research of WSN.As an open source discrete event simulator, OMNeT++ has a mature architecture and a rich class library. In recent years, it has been widely used in the field of scientific research. In the OMNeT++ development environment, the development of the wireless sensor simulation platform can greatly reduce the development cycle and improve the code reusability of the simulation platform which provides a reliable and efficient experimental environment for the research of wireless sensor networks.In this paper, according to the characteristics of WSN, the design and implementation of wireless sensor network simulation platform is completed in the OMNeT++ development environment. In this paper, complete the following work:(1) Combining with the characteristics of the wireless sensor network, we added an application layer and a routing layer base class for implementing different application algorithms and routing algorithms.(2) In some applications of wireless sensor networks, some sensor node movement is indispensable.The TragectoryBasedMobility model has been developed to provide support for mobile node’s mobility localization in our this simulation platform.(3) Wireless sensors are usually powered by batteries. Energy consumposition_nion of nodes is usually used as an important performance parameter in the simulation of wireless sensor networks. In this simulation platform, the power module which is used to manage the energy of nodes has been developed independently.(4) In order to simulate the multipath and time variation characteristics of the wireless channel, this paper proposes a multipath loss propagation model.(5) Based on the new addition of routing layer and application layer base class, the simulation platform extended centralized LEACH routing protocol and MCL mobile positioning class. This paper has realized centralized LEACH protocol and mobile node localization MCL algorithm simulation by using functional modules which has been developed and the underlying model of OMNeT++. Through the collection and analysis of data which is related to the network node energy consumposition_nion and node position estimation error, the paper has proved that the wireless sensor network simulation platform proposed in this paper can simulate the protocol and related algorithm of wireless sensor network correctly.
