Design And Realization Of Multimedia Database System For The Battlefield Situation

Along with the maturity of multimedia technologies and the appearance of enormous multimedia data, the multimedia database systems have been playing a more and more important role in people’s daily life. In military fields, the development of technologies and the rapid paces of modern war directly lead to the distinct increase of the amount of the information in battlefield and the diversity of the data. Multimedia database systems can provide a space of collection, restoration, exchange and distribution for the information in battlefield and are regard as an important part of the military information system, therefore, in this thesis, the researches on the related theories and technologies of the multimedia database systems are introduced, the major work as follow.Firstly, this thesis introduced the multimedia database systems research status and military application situation, the multimedia database system’s data model, architecture are discussed, analyzed the distributed technology and content-based retrieval techniques which two currently in the research field of multimedia database systems hot issue.Then, On the basis of the generalization and summarization about the related theories and technologies of the multimedia database systems, as well as the analysis of the logic separation and the flow of the information produced from the battlefield in the multimedia database systems, this article did some researches on the design of the multimedia databases, and verified some related theories and technologies though a detailed design of an experimental multimedia database system, which was adapted to deal with the information of the battlefield. The key point of this article is the design and the realization of the experimental multimedia database system.Finally, the system was functional tested, the results show that the system meets the design requirements for battlefield information and has been carried out in a unit of a trial.During the process of design and realization, the universality and the expansibility of the system were focused on and in some detailed designs, such as the distribution and the assist-functions of the system and the interfaces’ flexibility, the author brought up some new notions and some suitable measures in order to making the system not only suitable for the training work of the military special forces in the management of battlefield information, but also contributive to the design and realization of another multimedia database systems, which would be similar like this.
