With the continuous development of network technology, the network has been widely applied, the number of network devices has continued to increase, and the number of rooms has had a sharp increment, In view of the above-mentioned facts, room safe operation has become the lifeblood of important guarantee for information security. In order to reduce the consumption of human and material resources in managing the computer room, a remote computer room monitoring system has been designed in this thesis.The system realizes real-time monitoring on status of the room equipments, monitors the room equipments by remote monitoring system, and improves the automation level of management. The system has the superb expansibility of functions, broad application foreground, and it can gain good social and economic benefits.This thesis firstly introduces the background and significance of the subject. Combined with the actual demand of the system, the overall design scheme has been established. Then it gives the detailed specification for the design and implementation of hardware and software of the system. For the hardware, it gives a general structure. The core of the hardware is microcontroller C8051F340and Ethernet controller CP2200. Besides, here is also the detailed specification of the design scheme which is for the circuit of every module. For the software, it gives a detailed specification for the implementation of protocol stack TCP/IP and initialization of Ethernet controller CP2200. Here is a small Web server. Users can visits web pages of the small Web server via a browser to control and manage equipments in the computer room. Finally, there is a test for the system. The test results demonstrate that the system can meet requirement specified previously.The final purpose of this thesis is to design a common platform which can monitor the temperature. We can develop other similar monitoring system through this platform. The modular design is adopted in hardware and software of the system. Because of modular design, not only the development process is clearer, but also the system’s versatility and portability improves. This system can be used for other monitoring system that has different environmental parameters, if the module design of this system is changed.
