With the rapid development of communication technology, especially wireless communication technology, a variety of different communication standards and protocols are used in the wireless area. In the field of wireless communication, because of the high demand of low latency and high-throughput data transmission, the communication standards and protocols change frequently. To accommodate these changes, the design and implementation of a universal software radio platform become more important.Mainly from the hardware implementation, interconnection standards and system software architecture point of view, this paper compares and analyzes the implementation of existing software radio platform, and presents a universal software radio platform design based on multi-core DSP. This paper studies the current multi-core processor technology and details the KeyStone multicore processing architecture. For the universal software radio platform design, this paper details analog signal acquisition based on Virtex-6FPGA and digital signal processing based on multi-core DSP. In this paper, the software radio platform design also achieved high-speed Internet based RapidIO protocol. From the perspective of signal integrity and power integrity, This paper describes the multi-layer circuit board lamination, power plane segmentation techniques, layout constrained settings, etc. This paper also presents the related hardware design parameters of ADC and DDR3.
