As the development of internet, digital technology and e-commerce, hugechanges gradually appeared in China’s publishing, especially privatebookstores in the backend of publishing industry chain. According to a surveyreport of the National Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry onthe bookstore industry in the past10years, there are nearly50%of thebookstores closed their doors, and the current trend is exacerbated. Thispaper discusses the living space of China’s private bookstores, analyzes of theswallowed space, the reserved space and the new space of China’s privatebookstores from social psychology, semiotics, communication, accordinglyraises the advice to build private bookstore business model. Firstly, the authorsummarizes the development process of bookstores, to analyze the motivationof bookstores`exist and development. Analyzing the current situation anddifficulties of the private bookstores in the publishing industry chain byresearching the situation that China’s publishing face to the internetdevelopment, the digital technology and the e-commerce industry. Secondly,according to the social psychology, the semiotics and the communicationsociology, there are three levels for the future survival of the private bookstores:selling areas, cultural sings and spiritual home. Then this paper introduced theoperation and condition of private bookstores in foreign and domestic thatdevelop well at the time. Finally, this paper constructs China’s new privatebookstores management mode from different levels.
