Domestic Emerging Regional Economic Report Financial Newspaper Research

The further development of economic globalization brings about more drastic competition and broader cooperation in today’s world, along with the unbalanced development between different regions of China and thus the potential energy for sustainable economic development, make the regional economy catch considerable attention. In this context, the reporting of regional economy has increasingly attracted the attention from investors. In August,2013, National Business Daily, which renowned for its company report, opened a new special page——Regional Economy, which is justified to show the market need for the reporting of regional economy.On the other hand, since the beginning of the21st century, China has seen a spring-up of so called "emerging financial newspapers" such as21st Century Business Herald, The Economic Observer, China Business News. This group of media has great differences from traditional financial newspapers in many aspects such as news concept and way of reporting; naturally their reporting of regional economy also has new features. It is fair to say, the emergence of these newspapers brings vigor and new vitality into the reporting of Chinese regional economy. However, the current study of Chinese regional economy reporting mainly focused on party newspapers. There is little study on the regional economy reporting of those new financial newspapers.This thesis used the economy reports of Chinese western region form The Economic Observer between February,2012and August,2013as samples, with the application of the framework theory, comprehensive content analysis, discourse analysis and observation and interview method, thus made an in-depth study of the content of those reports and the news production process of the newspaper. This thesis presented the real framework and form framework of those reports, and further analyzed the reasons of such reporting structure, explained how The Economic Observer conducted the regional economy reporting. Finally,"to see the whole picture from the reflected knowledge", this thesis helps to get a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the regional economy reporting of the "emerging financial newspapers."...
