With the rapid development of information technology, more and more users are eagerto be able to deal with documents from multiple data sources in a unified way. There aredifferences among these documents in the physical and logical, including structured data inrelational databases, semi-structured data in XML, as well as unstructured data stored in thefile system, etc. For the management of various data files, it is necessary to develop adocument management system of a unified model.In order to achieve a unified integration and management of various types of data, thispaper proposes a common data model based on non-recursive generalized list. It is namedGriDoc data model. This model has strong ability of description, which can be used to signifyall kinds of heterogeneous data. GriDoc system, based on GriDoc data model, allows users toorganize information and generate user-defined data views of knowledge effectively inform of a composite document.By studying the structure of GriDoc management system, this paper designs andimplements a document management system for heterogeneous massive data which namedGriDoc Management System (GDMS), and its driver GriDoc Connection.GriDoc Connection accesses GriDoc system and provides interface of networkconnection and document operations for the upper application program. After loading GriDocConnection, GDMS and other applications can connect GriDoc system using the methodprovided by GriDoc Connection. GriDoc Connection contains function of file transfer, whichallows users to read and write files from GriDoc system using multi-threaded broken-pointcontinuingly-transferring.GDMS is a user document management system based on GriDoc system. By usingGriDoc data model, it can manage all types of documents flexibly. It allows users to definedocuments, edit documents and access to documents visually. GDMS provides operations,such as read, update, move, search, copy, decomposition, merging and batch operation, et al.GDMS support viewing of complex document when it converts documents to a documentused to display in accordance with the rules.This paper describes experiments and applications of functional modules, which provesthe requirement and purpose of the design. The system working reliably and using easily,enables users to access and manipulate heterogeneous data in a uniform way, and helps toimprove the work efficiency of documentation management.
