In recent years, the number of mobile users has increased explosively. With the increasingof network scale in each city, demand for scarce frequency resources conflicts with thenetwork resources. High quality requirement of network and the intensification of competitionin telecom market become more and more intense. To the network operators, the mostimportant task is how to improve the telecom service quality, the quality of network andcommunication equipment utilization. On this background, wireless network optimization isplaying more and more important role in the routine work of network operators.Early GSM mobile communication network is based on a network900M, with the rapidincrease of users, the network capacity is growing rapidly. Due to the restrictions of frequencyresources in GSM900, the maximum number of users can carry about40million. Thecontradictions between frequency resource and wireless channel are still outstanding. Thenetwork operators and equipment providers must consider the problem of how to make theexisting GSM network to adapt to the needs of the rapid growth of users. From GSMdevelopment process and existing mature technology perspective, GSM1800M and dual bandnetwork are the most effective and safest solution. With the increase of DCS1800network size,it is a good solution to the problem of network capacity. However, how to prepare dual-bandnetwork optimization and how to make GSM900/1800M dual-band network play theireconomic benefits respectively, become the focus of today’s wireless network optimization andmaintenance. This article mainly focuses on the optimization for GSM dual band network in Qingdaocity and elaborates the basic ideas and methods to optimize the dual-band GSM networkoptimization. And we highlight the characteristics and dual-band network optimizationprinciple of GSM900/1800M. Then the coverage, capacity, interference, positioning andswitching solutions, dropped calls and other common wireless network problems wereanalyzed and summarized. Through the network adjustment, the adjusted network quality hasbeen significantly improved compared with the unadjusted one.
